One of my favorite blogs to follow right now is Pink Peonies. She has such classy taste in what she wears to how she decorates her home. She recently started up her own jewelry line, the Pink Peonies Collection. I absolutely love every piece with the delicate style she repeats throughout. The different shades of pink and marble in her collection have got me hooked! Her pricing is fairly reasonable, but if you would like something a little more lower price, check out the similar options below! Whether you decide to buy the real deal or shop at more of a bargain, you are guaranteed to have the perfect jewelry to pull your look together!

It was recommended that Karson and I make our guestbook through Shutterfly for a creative way to showcase engagement photos and save our guests notes. I had considered doing one of the fun ideas you see online like having everyone sign a big letter C for Cornell, or a finger print tree, etc. But I knew that one day it would simply be in the way and I would end up storing it in the attic somewhere. With this cute guestbook form, the advice, signatures and notes given on our wedding day can easily be showcased on a bookshelf within easy reach when a feeling of nostalgia comes along. There were many different style books to choose from, and within each style were countless options of page layouts. I have shared just a few pages of what we ended up with to give you the feel of the book without completely spoiling it for guests! We had fun with a little bit of everything and Karson even used his graphic design background to create the monogram on the front! We were very pleased with how the book turned out when we received it! Not only did we get the chance to put our own touches on it, but it was a great way to put our favorite engagement photos together rather than having them stuffed in a box someday down the road. Looking forward to the day this book is filled with our family and friends messages! Today I am sharing a quick way to make a big statement with a Eucalyptus garland. This is part of a project for a special piece my brother is making for our upcoming wedding and I can't wait to share the full, finished product! There are so many uses for a Eucalyptus garland beyond just our wedding decorations, so take a look at my "How To" and put it to use for your next party or holiday decorating! First, we bought 10 bunches of Eucalyptus branches from Hobby Lobby. (It's even on sale right now!) We didn't end up using all 10, just 9, which may have been a bit over kill. It was originally decided on 10 to begin with since we needed it 10 feet long for the project, but I was able to space it out long enough to cut the amount down. Next you will need padding wire. I found this green option at Michael's to help it blend in with the branches. Other than that, all you need are some wire cutters and you are ready to start! I simply started by placing a few branches together, trying to extend the leafy portion as far out as needed while keeping the thickness, and started wrapping the wire around the branch. From there I kept extending the branches added on to get the length I wanted while adding in a few here and there to keep up the thickness. Once I got it to the length needed, I just added in any extra branches where it was looking a bit thin. Didn't take me more than an hour or so! The finished product was exactly what I had hoped for! Now I plan to add a few colorful flowers here and there for the final project. Hope you all found this useful! Every year on Memorial Day weekend we make the trip to Grand Lake for fun, sun, food and yummy drinks with friends and family. This year was a little lacking in the sun department at times, but we still made the best of it with our annual party on Saturday! Crop Top: H&M // Pencil Skirt: Nordstrom I was sure to pack anything red, white and blue like the above crop top (ONLY $5!!) and pencil skirt! Can't go wrong showing your American pride on these weekends with a cute patriotic outfit :) Another great H&M purchase I made was this cute swimsuit cover up! Not only have I worn it on the lake a few times now, but I even put a white slip under it to wear as the perfect summertime dress. They seem to have already sold out online, but here is another great option for a cover up! The dogs were in 7th heaven living on lake time! From chasing chipmunks, playing on the Lily Pad and napping on the porch, they had very busy schedules ;) My dads famous chocolate martini's were made for happy hour. They could easily double as dessert if you can't stop at one.. Karson also made the most delicious casserole Sunday morning. It may not have been the most healthy option, but if you are cooking for a large group I recommend you give it a try! We made a few changes to the ingredients, but you can check out the original recipe here. Credit for the above photo of our lake house goes to my sister-in-law Emily. She clearly missed her calling in photography! The constant rain Oklahoma has been receiving definitely put a stop to some of our outdoor plans. But with a little help from Carole King, screened in porches and some yummy snacks and drinks, we were able to make the most of a long weekend! Memorial Day Weekend is a time to remember and thank our troops for their service! It will also hold a very special place in our memories for another reason. One year ago yesterday, Karson proposed at my favorite place on Grand lake. Family and friends were there to celebrate and make this a night we will never forget! Counting down the days until the wedding.. 32 to be exact!
Bridesmaid proposals are one of the many new traditions in the monster of a wedding planning process that every bride goes through these days. You can't simply ask your sister or best friend to be part of your bridal party. You must show your creative side to give them their own moment, even if you knew they were going to say yes either way ;) I decided to go the more price conscious route with my proposals and make them with my own two crafty hands. I mean it's the thought that counts, right? Karson printed off these free illustrations from a download he found online. I'm sure you've seen many similar cards to these used, if not the same exact one, but the girls still loved them! I have found some new card ideas that I haven't seen over done yet here ! Here is the full setup that each girl got! (Please excuse my horrible handwriting...they have learned to accept it over the years thankfully.) You can find these affordable wood picture frames at Hobby Lobby or any other craft store near you and fill them with fun old pictures of you and each girl. Peach, navy and gold are my colors so I decided to incorporate that into the proposals as well. These cute little knot rings are a fun way to gift the girls with something they can keep as a memento as well as a clever prop for their gift box! The girls may not have gotten their own diamond rings from me, but they seemed to love the cute little picture frames and knot rings nonetheless! I even had chocolate martini's ready for the occasion :) Every girl has a few go to pieces of jewelry that they throw on with any outfit when in a rush and know they will look great with that small touch of detail, no matter how absentminded it was! Large Stone Necklace: J. Crew // Peach Earrings: Movida // Long Beaded Necklace: Seasonal Whispers Above I have shared pictures of my personal go to necklaces and earrings as well as links to where they can be bought. The J. Crew necklace is a classic style that can be worn with a special dress or a cute graphic tee. I love to mix girly with grunge whenever I get the chance! I shared the link for J. Crew, but I have seen lookalikes at much lower prices around many boutiques I see on the road each week. The cute earrings I bought from Movida have the perfect feminine look to them and have been worn to many showers and parties when I need that perfect pop of color. Last but not least is the beaded necklace that can be worn three different ways! I love anything that is reversible or multipurpose when shopping, makes it feel like a better deal. This gem was made by Seasonal Whispers which has so many amazing different pieces of jewelry I need to own! I have held on to each of these pieces for years as a throw on option for any event, and as you have seen in previous posts, I wear them quite often! These will definitely be going in my suitcase for the fun Memorial Day weekend ahead :) Navy Blouse: H&M (similar option) // Rosette Skirt: Anthropologie // Shoes: Tory Burch // Karson's Jacket: H&M Karson and I had the pleasure to work with Joy Neville here in Dallas to have our engagement photos taken last summer. Not only did we have a blast with such a fun photographer, but we also had unending options of where to have our photos taken in the city. We ended up starting at our own condo in order to memorialize our first place we bought together. The pictures turned out great, as shown above, and will be something to always help us remember our cozy little home! I highly recommend taking pictures somewhere that has a meaning for the both of you, making engagement pictures with more than just one purpose. My Top was from H&M and I actually found Karson's blazer there while shopping. Have to say, I loved seeing him looking so sharp ;) Next we went downtown and jumped on the trolley for some fun pictures on the go! It took us right to Klyde Warren Park where we found a wide range of options for backdrops. We want to thank Joy again for such a great experience as we were a bit stiff at first! She was great at loosening us up to enjoy the moment and be ourselves in the photos.
There are so many summer events to have a nice white dress for, whether you are a bride to be or shopping for the perfect outfit for birthday parties and other events, you will find them everywhere! I thought I would share some of my favorite dresses from past showers and bridal events so far this year!
I LOVE the detailed bodice on this dress and found a similar style on Urban Outfitters here !

The summertime is the perfect excuse to wear white at any opportunity! When perfectly paired with gold accessories, some nude wedges and a nice tan from your days by the pool, you can have an easy yet chic look for any occasion.
I linked a Vince Camuto dress from Nordstrom on here as an idea for the sheath dress, and also want to make sure you all know their Half Yearly sale is going on! 40% off of all kinds of great goodies now through May 31st. I know I will be taking advantage! Be sure to follow me on the Slate & Gold instagram below! I plan to share daily tips on fashion, home design and more! I never feel more accomplished and proud than when I get to see the finished product of a long project at the condo. Scroll down for the before and after photos of our dining room, from the day we moved in to some pictures taken a couple of weeks ago after months of hard work! Looking pretty bare bones here when we first moved in with some old furniture of ours... Here is the before and after photo of the back breaking project of sanding and painting our old table and chairs. We first painted it this ivory color and then again to the white color you see further down after we had painted the fireplace to match. Loved seeing a bit of the black peek through on the legs of the table to show off some of the detail! After painting the walls, adding in the hutch, updating the table and chairs and adding the rug, I could not love our dining room more! It feels so cozy and the space is perfectly filled! I hope sharing our hard work and ideas will help inspire you all to make some fun changes to one of your rooms in order to get that feeling of satisfaction as well! I'm sure the day will come when I feel the need for another update, but for now I am enjoying those special home cooked meals in a room we put our sweat and tears into!
